Tackling Social Exclusion
Public Group
Description
Little critical consideration has been given to how technology can be used to tackle the UK Government’s social exclusion initiatives.
What is sure that existing, proprietary, mainstream technology can not provide the solution.
The objectives of this special interest group are:
to agree an architecture, based on Free / Open Source Software, that provides secure client computing at an affordable cost;
to configure a Linux distribution, based on Debian, that enables social inclusion;
to develop the architecture to enable secure, remote management of these clients;
to develop and put in place the infrastructure to provide user support.
